Horses have always been an integral part of Mario’s life. He is originally from a small horse town on the outskirts of San Diego, CA. Mario grew up riding quarter horses, bulls, trick-roping, and helping his father train horses. Growing up as a Charro (Mexican cowboy) he gained a love and appreciation for the power and versatility of the horse.
Naturally at the ripe age of 5 he decided he was going to be a veterinarian. In order to make the dream come true, he worked in a variety of settings from landscaping to roofing to embryo production labs and even caring for primates. He completed his undergraduate degree of Animal Science at UC Davis and DVM at Western University of Health Sciences. The dream suddenly became a reality and he tries to make the most of it everyday.
Dr. Tellez will always greet you with a smile and looks forward to seeing his patients and the fantastic humans attached. You can find him enjoying his free time at the gym, on his horse, or socializing with friends and family.
